If designed well and used properly a logo becomes a very important asset. The bigger the organization the more valuable the logo. We all know the logos of Coke, Microsoft, Nike, and Walt Disney. We can distinguish iPhone form Droid. Each of these logos have become the cornerstone of the companies entire branding program.

If you or your organization are starting or changing a business, opening a new division, managing an event, offering a new product line or in need of a fresh new image here are Rick Cunningham's basic principles that can help you designed a logo.

GUIDELINES FOR MAKING A GOOD LOGO
Here is a checklist of what your logo should do—and be—for you.
Every good logo should:
    • Be distinctive and differentiate the company from competitors
    • Be appropriate for the business and its customers.
    • Project a positive image and (perhaps) express the personality of the company or its owner.
    • Be legally protectable (register a Trade Mark or Service Mark so your logo is not stolen)
    • Reproduce well in one or multiple color, in a variety of sizes and places, and without costly printing requirements.
    • Have lasting appeal.
    • Be easily read in virtually any size and from a distance.
